Pengertian Recount Text

Recount Text adalah jenis teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan kembali kejadian atau pengalaman yang terjadi di masa lampau. Tujuannya adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau hiburan kepada pembaca tentang suatu peristiwa.

Tujuan Recount Text

  • Menceritakan kembali pengalaman pribadi.

  • Memberikan informasi tentang suatu kejadian.

  • Menghibur pembaca dengan cerita pengalaman.

Struktur Recount Text

  1. Orientation (Orientasi): Bagian awal teks yang memberikan informasi tentang siapa, apa, kapan, dan di mana kejadian itu terjadi.

  2. Events (Peristiwa): Bagian inti teks yang menceritakan urutan kejadian secara kronologis.

  3. Re-orientation (Re-orientasi): Bagian penutup yang berisi kesimpulan atau komentar pribadi penulis tentang kejadian tersebut.

Ciri Kebahasaan Recount Text

  • Menggunakan Simple Past Tense (misalnya: went, saw, ate).

  • Menggunakan kata penghubung waktu (temporal conjunction) seperti: then, after that, finally, etc.

  • Menggunakan kata keterangan waktu, tempat, dan cara (adverbs).

  • Menggunakan kata kerja tindakan (action verbs).




Contoh Recount Text: My Flood Experience

My Unforgettable Flood Experience

Orientation:

Last year, during the rainy season, my neighborhood experienced a severe flood. It was a terrifying experience that I will never forget.

Events:

It started with heavy rain that lasted for several days. The water level in the river near my house rose rapidly. One night, while we were sleeping, the water suddenly entered our house. We woke up to find our house flooded. The water was waist-deep. We had to evacuate immediately. We took only the most important things with us. We went to a temporary shelter provided by the government. The shelter was crowded with people from my neighborhood. We stayed there for three days. During that time, we received food and medical assistance from volunteers. After the water receded, we returned to our house. Our house was covered in mud and debris. We spent days cleaning and repairing our house.

Re-orientation:

The flood was a devastating experience. It taught me the importance of being prepared for natural disasters. I also learned the strength of community spirit during difficult times.
