Simple Past Tense
Pengertian:
Simple past tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau dan telah selesai pada waktu tertentu di masa lampau.
Waktu kejadiannya dapat diketahui secara spesifik (misalnya, yesterday, last week, two years ago) atau tidak.
Rumus:
Kalimat Verbal (menggunakan kata kerja):
(+) Subject + Verb 2 + Object/Complement
(-) Subject + did + not + Verb 1 + Object/Complement
(?) Did + Subject + Verb 1 + Object/Complement?
Kalimat Nominal (menggunakan to be):
(+) Subject + was/were + Complement
(-) Subject + was/were + not + Complement
(?) Was/Were + Subject + Complement?
Catatan:
Verb 2 adalah bentuk lampau dari kata kerja.
Was digunakan untuk subjek I, she, he, it.
Were digunakan untuk subjek you, we, they.
Kata Kerja Beraturan (Regular Verbs):
Kata kerja beraturan adalah kata kerja yang bentuk lampaunya (Verb 2) dibentuk dengan menambahkan akhiran -ed atau -d.
Contoh:
Walk -> walked
Play -> played
Dance -> danced
Kata Kerja Tidak Beraturan (Irregular Verbs):
Kata kerja tidak beraturan adalah kata kerja yang bentuk lampaunya (Verb 2) tidak mengikuti aturan penambahan -ed atau -d.
Bentuk lampau kata kerja ini bervariasi.
Contoh:
Go -> went
Eat -> ate
See -> saw
